Podszus-Görlich![]() Podszus-Görlich loudspeaker units all feature the famous sandwich hard foam cone that is invented and patented by Dr. Emil Podszus in 1935. The idea of the Podszus cone is to create a very stiff and light cone with very high internal damping in order to eliminate the typical drawbacks of hard cones.
Today Podszus-Görlich products are handmade in Roetgen, Germany, a small village just south-east of Aachen, situated in the beautiful and quiet Eifel mountains. Podszus-Görlich has an unique sound that doesn't resemble any other driver on the market. Especially the 'Vollkonus', cones made from one piece that have no hole at the voice coil end, are extremely difficult to manufacture. This leads to a rather high percentage of failing assemblies and a lot of waste and costs for the manufacturer, which makes this type of driver expensive to build. Even the very first 17cm Vollkonus drivers we got from Podszus-Görlich in the early 90s are still going strong so build quality and reliability is very good. Since the 30s Podszus-Görlich drivers have also been used professionally by Radio, TV and recording studios which further underlines the quality and reliability of these unique drivers. Highly recommended!
